OUR BEGINNINGS
NB Structural Detailing was established in South Australia in 2020 by brothers Micah and Jeshua Miller. NBSD began as we saw an opportunity to bring a high level of service, experience and quality of detailing to structural steelwork contractors through our years of experience working in and managing a structural steelwork subcontracting company prior to NBSD’s creation.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is in our name, “No Bullsh*t Structural Detailing”. We believe in delivering projects on time, every time, with high quality documentation and accuracy, along with exceptional communication, experience and efficiencies – without the fuss.
These values are at the core of every project which we detail. As we have the experience of working from steelwork and precast shop and site drawings ourselves, we are driven to deliver a smooth and efficient process for our clients. We believe in a holistic approach to each project, where input from each stakeholder is considered.
OUR APPROACH
A project which starts well has the best chance of running well. As steelwork and precast detailing are at the beginning of construction projects, we understand how critical it is not only for the detailing to be accurate, but to run on time.
From project start up through to completion, we provide thorough communication in order to ensure our clients’ needs are met.
We provide clear and concise RFIs, containing resolutions for each problem and we are willing to drive and manage the RFI process with builders to ensure timeframes for detailing are maintained. During this process, we ensure all parties are clear on the status of RFIs and their resolution.
OUR VISION
One of our favourite quotes is from the field of home audio (an area which we are both also passionate about) from Amar Bose, the founder of Bose Corporation – “Better implies different”.
We are constantly experimenting with new detailing techniques, providing additional services which detailers don’t traditionally provide and exploring new ways to use detailing to provide our clients with efficiencies, advantages and reduction in overall construction programmes.
Another goal of NBSD is to continue to maintain our regular clients who continue to engage us to detail structural steelwork and precast panels. We enjoy building and growing these relationships, which motivate us further to continue to improve, develop and evolve as a company into the future.
SERVICES
STRUCTURAL STEELWORK DETAILING
Structural steelwork detailing is the foundation of NBSD.
It was our first service offered and we continue to enjoy the challenge of completing both complex and simple steelwork models as the core works of our company.
We provide steelwork detailing services for warehousing, commercial and industrial projects and can provide detailing to tie into existing structures through the use of 3D scanning & point clouds.
PRECAST PANEL DETAILING
Precast panel detailing was the second service which we began to offer after successfully completing a project for which we were engaged to complete both the structural steelwork & precast panel detailing.
We provide precast panel detailing services for warehousing, commercial, industrial and high-rise projects.
To paraphrase Forest Gump – steelwork and precast “go together like peas and carrots”, which is why we aim to detail both structural elements on the same project when we can.
EARLY ENGAGEMENT & DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Our team has been involved in projects starting at the 40-50% design development phase, where we are able to detail steelwork and precast in conjunction with the development of the architectural and structural designs and drawings.
During these projects, we work closely with the architect, engineer and builder to deliver detailing in an expedited timeframe, along with optimised steelwork designs and efficiencies due to our direct input throughout the process.

MICAH MILLER
Director/Draftsman
Micah began his career in construction as a labourer for a Barossa Valley-based structural steelwork rigging company in 2007. He spent five and a half years on site as a structural steelwork & precast rigger, before moving into precast and steelwork detailing for five years and finally worked for four and a half years as the General Manager, then Managing Director of a family-owned, medium size structural steelwork company in South Australia – during which time, he oversaw the growth of the company to over twice its size. The experience gained both on site and in managing a business prior to NB Structural Detailing provides Micah with an understanding of the entire process of a steelwork & precast subcontractor’s company, which assists NBSD in achieving their goals of delivering superior service, communication, reliability & constructability insights, along with a high quality of detailing.
JESHUA MILLER
Director/Draftsman
Jeshua started in construction as a Precast Surveyor straight out of high school and left the industry soon after for a career in Finance. He returned to the construction industry to take up the role of Production Manager at a medium sized structural steel company where he managed the end to end fabrication process varying from residential builds to high rise buildings including the recently completed Sofitel Hotel in Adelaide. After 2 years spent in the role, he and his brother Micah began NB Structural Detailing in November of 2020.
Outside of work, Jeshua is heavily into fitness and audio/home theatre.
